This was a challenging book to read. Ms. Morrison commented in the forward, "break the narrative into parts that had to be reassembled by the reader... the execution of which does not satisfy me now." That stuck with me as I read. Perhaps, had I not read the forward I wouldn't have noticed, but I did and I found the story to be disjointed. However, I think this story is an important one to read. It involves themes that should be examined and talked about openly. As I read this for a bookclub, I am looking forward to the discussion about this book.
