And I Darken
by Kiersten White
I absolutely adored this. I did not know what to expect going into this and I have fallen in love with Lada and Radu. They are both complex and completely flawed characters, both being a different side to the same coin. The cutthroat politics in this series, and the schemes remind me of game of thrones and at any moment anyone could find a knife in their throat.
The character development of Lada and Radu was incredible, for Lada from a young angry girl desperate for her father's approval, to a strong young woman doing what she can to carve out some power for herself.
And Radu, from a scared terrified young boy into a handsom young man who has found his place and has learned how to play "the game of thrones" in essence, often sacrificing his own wants and needs for others.
I did not expect there to be any LGBT element to this and was delightfully suprised! Although i really wanted Radu and Lazar to get together.
I can't wait to start the next one, and I can only foresee it getting more intense from here on out.
