Canadian Boyfriend
by Jenny Holiday
Have you ever picked up a romance and realized as you’re reading that it’s so much more than a typical romance? That’s what happened here, there were so many layers to this story and yes, at its heart it’s definitely a romance but there was something special here. I’m a huge fan of the single dad trope and even more of a fan if there is also nanny/boss and I liked that this didn’t fit into the stereotypical idea when you hear those tropes. Again, it had a little something special, more depth than I expected. Both Mike and Aurora had some traumatic stuff from their past they needed to deal with and I truly appreciated that they tried to handle their own shit before jumping into a full blown relationship. It prob sounds like this is super heavy and it does deal with grief, disordered eating, and mental health issues but it was balanced by plenty of humor and lightheartedness too. I ended up doing mostly audio because it was fantastic and narrated by Joshua Jackson and Emily Ellet and they were both phenomenal and brought their characters to life. If you want a romance that feels mature and will make you swoon give this a try, I loved it so much!
