The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A Memoir of Friendship, Loyalty, and War
by J.T. Molloy, John "Chick" Donohue
I listened to this book because my husband has been reading it for almost a year now.
Naturally what attracted me to this book was knowing that it was being made into a film starring Zac Efron (um hello). I had wanted to give this a listen in prep to watching the film.
It is amazing what Chickie went through to deliver his friends beer to say thank you. The stories he told were wild & if anything good that came out of the Vietnam war, it was this. It's amazing how resourceful he was trying to get these beers to his friends in a time where there wasn't cell phones, computers or anything besides determination and luck.
I really liked the narrator's voice and thought his tone was great especially when reading conversations. It sounded so natural as if he was the writer himself. This is a quick listen.
My husband never finished reading & we did watch the movie. I thought the movie was well done and enjoyable. I love that at the end of the film you got to see the original photo of the group of guys he visited and then also a recent photo of all the 4 remaining men.
I will not be rating Non Fiction books as it is based on real events and real experiences.
