Runaway Love
by Melanie Harlow
Melanie Harlow is one of my favorite authors and definitely a "must read" of mine whenever I know she has something new coming out. With that being said, I know that not every book will be a favorite. I was so excited for this new series and I loved the idea of a runaway bride finding herself and love in a small town. But this one just didn't do it for me like her past books have. Maybe it's because she turned out books like Ignite, Tease and Tempt and they were just so good that nothing could really top them? I'm not sure. However, this left a lot to be desired. It fell short for me. It didn't have the magic that her other books have. Sure, there were some funny moments, a lot of spice and the kids were cute but it wasn't what I wanted it to be. First of all, it was very instalove for me and I have hard time with that because it's just not realistic. I didn't feel as strong of a connection between Austin and Veronica as I wanted to. Also, Austin was kind of a dick... he said and did some things that had me questioning out loud, "Why are men the way they are?" I know he was supposed to be hurt and gruff and broody, but there's a difference between that and just plain mean. He needs therapy. I really just want to get to Dash and Ari's story because those hints are making me crazy and I need it now. Also, Xander is an angel and I know his book will be so good. Hopefully.
