“It’s a particular kind of pleasure, of intimacy, loving a book with someone.”

I have wanted to form a book club for over a decade, so it was a little bit of a life goal unlocked when a group of lovely ladies met, albeit virtually to discuss King’s novel.

There was so much to consider in this one. As a woman who just turned 30, feeling like I should have my life totally together, it was heartwarming to read Casey’s story as a 32 year old woman who very much does not have everything together.

Casey’s story of self-discovery and self-actualisation was relatable and at times frustrating. I would have loved that ending, in particular the romance, to be a little more ambiguous to truly allow Casey’s professional and psychological growth to shine as the hero of the narrative.

I’m keen to read other Lily King novels now.

8/10 - it’s a reflective novel that involves romance but it isn’t a romance novel, if that makes sense?

😢🥺🤓😊🤭🤢- plenty of emotions felt in this one.
