I was invited to join an online book club by a friend. I’ve never been in a book club and in the last few years, I’ve been searching! An online book club is perfect because it removes the pressure of intimately bonding with strangers in person and focuses on the book. I digress.

I had no prior knowledge of this book but this is my first book club so I dove right in. I didn’t read the book blurb, the jacket, or any reviews I just started reading. The intro prepares the reader for the non traditional format of the book. I read it, I thought I had prepared myself to read something that might not read like a novel but I stumbled. If you’re turned off by the books format, please keep reading. The story is important. I learned a lot about gender, the judicial system, and Sasha and Richard reading this book. I couldn’t have asked for a better introductory book club choice!
