Maskerade
by Terry Pratchett
The more Pratchett I read, the more I understand why people love him. While his earliest works were quite broad comedy making fun of fantasy and Dungeons and Dragons tropes, and then some of the slightly less early work tended to feel forced and a bit dry, by this point his work is really developing a beautiful balance of his unique voice, humour and heart. A truly enjoyable read.
