When Breath Becomes Air
by Paul Kalanithi
Reading this book was hard and interesting. This story follows a man with a very serious and low rate of survival disease. He writes the book discussing his marriage, his family, having children, and his journey of processing his death. He took all the tests for his disease and most of the medication only to realize that he was dying in the end. Lots of people didn’t know why he choose to write this book but it meant something to him to try to write it. A few people helped him write this book and there are times of sadness, triumph, and pure grief. This book is a perfect example of having your whole life planned only for death to be at your door step in an instant. This book has a continual theme of his death. Which I think is important in understanding his life. The of the book took me by surprise. I wanted him to survive but that was not the case.
