Breath, Eyes, Memory is such a poignant read. It's a stunning introduction to Haiti and Danticat. The characters each carry a burden and heartbreak within them. I personally did not vibe with Sophie but Breath, Eyes, Memory had such shocking scenes that it kept me plowing through the book. Breath, Eyes, Memory explores the bonds of women in a family and it's so deep and tear wrenching.
