Circle of Freaks by Delilah Croww
4.0

"Circle of Freaks" is a parallel book to "Whispers in the Dark," but instead of Alice's perspective, the female main character (FMC) is Ivy, her friend. In Chapter 2 of "Whispers in the Dark," Alice is taunted by other students for being a freak. In this book, it is also Chapter 4 where this interaction is happening, but from Ivy's POV. The author delves into Ivy's backstory, revealing that Alice and Ivy lead opposite lives. While Alice lives in a huge manor, Ivy resides in a rundown apartment building. Ivy's mom tries to convince her that her only talent will be offering herself for sex, while Ivy is determined to finish high school. After Ivy and Alice visit the haunted carnival, also known as Carnevil, in town, Ivy is handed a VIP ticket to the Circle of Freak Paranormal Circus. The way the author seamlessly switches perspectives and intertwines timelines is captivating. We are then introduced to Draco, the male main character (MMC), and he quickly takes a liking to Ivy. This story takes an unexpected turn, which I loved. The author has a way of drawing you in deeper and deeper. I would highly recommend this book and can't wait to see how far this series goes.
