The Final Revival of Opal & Nev
by Dawnie Walton
I feel like I’ve been putting off writing this review because no matter what words I put together, I cannot truly express my feelings about this book. Starting, I recommend the audio of the book. It is told with a full cast of some of my favorite narrators and it brings together the entire listening experience. I forgot I was listening to a book and felt like I was listening to a podcast about Opal and Nev. this book puts you through every single emotion possible. I found myself crying while driving, laughing out loud, and getting super pissed off at some characters. This book talks a lot about the racism that Opal dealt with throughout her career and it is really heartbreaking to listen to. Even though this story is fictional, there are countless stories of real artists who dealt with similar things to what Opal did. This book had me with my jaw on the floor and wishing I had more things to do so I could keep listening. I found myself taking the longer routes when walking or driving just to keep listening. This is a book I highly highly recommend!
