Maddy is an author and when she gets a new opportunity to write her new story, she won't think twice before taking that chance.
Deciding to be a caretaker for an old house, she starts a journey in an unknown place. I would be scared to take those risks personally, but I think she was brave enough to get away from her abusive relationship and make herself disappear.
An old house will always have its stories to tell, and this one hides many more secrets than she can ever imagine.
The novel is gripping, with characters that made me root for them but also hate to no extent. Her ex boyfriend is despicable, her best friend is good but she could've been a better friend. Many twisted moments and secrets unveiled one by one in the end.
The last straw wasn't that wow for me and while the ending felt quite rushed; I enjoyed this book.
