After having this on my TBR because of the accolade last year I finally got to it. I think I had it built up just a little too much. I did enjoy the book even as astonishing / disgusting the history is that it covers. I do love that it spells out the ignorance of white slave owners and of course how brutal they could be. 

I thought the book moved alright but I also felt like it at times moved through sub-characters rather quickly. The last 5% hustled to close it up with jumps in story line. That said I would still suggest it as a read.
