I'll Give You the Sun
by Jandy Nelson
Read #2: 13/10/18
I don’t even know what to say about I’ll Give You The Sun. It was an all time favorite when I first read it and it still is. Nelson’s writing is still amazing and she captured the essence of being a teenager so well. Aspects of this book that I would despise by anyone else *cough*insta-love*cough-cough* I adore in I’ll Give You The Sun because Nelson is just that good. I cant say weather or not I’ll love this book in 40 years but I don’t thing I’ll stop any time soon.

This book was so… Spectacular! (note the unironic use of the exclamation mark). Like every second I spent reading this book was amazing. I loved literally every aspect of this book it just made me feel completely wrapped up in their universe like nothing could take me out of the pages of the book. I really felt like this book was trying (and succeeding) to tell the reader something important and it did so with such beautiful storytelling.
Noah and June were two of the most fleshed out, lived in, real characters I’ve ever read. You can easily sympathize and understand them so well They’re both their own unique selves and as you read from both their perspectives you just feel yourself getting lost. I especially loved Noah’s chapters it’s just the way he thinks in colors is so magical and I can perfectly visualize the painting he makes in his head. More importantly I can feel the feelings he experiences those moments in the book where he’s flying through the air and hearing feeling and speaking in colors and art jump off the page and come to life in my mind.
I loved Jude as well. I also felt the emotional weight placed on her in her chapters and seeing her break out of that wall she incased herself in after her mom died was a great development of her character I love how she learned to be that girl. This book was just fantastic.
