This book was a powerful look into what it feels like to be in a relationship that slowly turns controlling and abusive. The author has taken the voice of the victim of the relationship and told expertly how this particular girl felt as she was falling in love, but also as she started to wake up to the atrocities she was enduring in the name of love.

The most important thing to take away from this book, is that no one person can be solely responsible for another persons life and happiness. And anyone who tries to take away your freedoms and threatens you when you try to leave, is not truly in love with you.

The way this story is written is truly beautiful. I loved the use of musical theatre quotes and songs to illustrate points. I think it was very intelligent to show all the good times of the relationship with the open heart that the girl had in the beginning of the relationship, while also hinting at what was to come and why it was so hard to let go when it became too much.

Bravo to Heather Demetrios for this superb story and I hope it helps some young women get out of dangerous patterned relationships.
