Dark Deceptions by Dee Davis

Nash and Annie have a history - some good and some bad. But they both tend to to dwell on the bad for the most part so they go their separate ways. Many years later Nash finds himself on a manhunt - for Annie - who is suspected of planning an assassination on a high ranking official. But more is at stake than he realizes- Annie's son is being held hostage and will only be released once the deed is done.

Nash and Annie need to figure out if they can trust each other and let the past go to save Annie's son. They both make so many mistakes along the way I began to give up on ever having them get together (this is a romance, we knew it had to happen somehow). Maybe it's the black ops sub-genre, but there was just way too much doubt and what-if scenarios tossed back and forth for me.
