Coming To Find You
by Jane Corry
The blurb for the book promises a fast paced, snappy thriller. What you get instead is slow historical fiction that is less about the ‘thrill’ in the story but more about how even the tiniest of events cause ripples for generations.
Nancy has returned to her mother’s childhood home near the beach after her step brother has been convicted of murdering her mother and stepfather.
She is on the run from the press and has dumped her too-good-to-be-true fiancé. Not even two chapters in and both of them find her.
I had guessed her ‘past’ after reading a few pages and I was right, which always sucks.
Elizabeth is in the middle of WW2 and we meet her as her 17 year old son has gone off to fight the war. She is Nancys great grandmother and had run a b&b at the house Nancy is living in in the future. She is a brave woman and her story could’ve been a book on its own.
Overall I think it is a good in between books as it is written well and pretty linear in its story telling.
