While I really enjoyed reading this book and the character of Rose, I felt that more character development could have been beneficial to this book. There were some sudden situations near the end of this book that a child might not really understand the "whys" behind and giving more dialogue between the characters could have helped. I also felt that some things were unfinished between a few characters in the story. Overall, it is a good book that I will recommend to my students.
