The main character of this book really was girlboss gaslight gatekeep (in that order) in the worst possible way. I didn't like her as a side character in the first book, so I probably should have seen this coming... actually I did know this was coming, I just naively hoped that I'd be proven wrong. I am going to continue onto the third and final book only because the point of view in that book is going to be from my favorite character (and the most intriguing character, imo).
