I'm Glad My Mom Died
by Jennette McCurdy
I am going to need some time to process this read. But my God. McCurdy tells her story in a powerful, provoking, well written, and introspective way. The pacing was wonderful. Despite the deep and hard-hitting moments almost every chapter held, I could not put the book down. I would highly recommend listening to this book. She reads it herself and I cannot believe her bravery in going to therapy and unpacking her childhood privately, much less writing a book and narrating it for the world.
The book deals heavily with mental illness, abuse, and eating disorders. If someone can pace themselves and handle such topics, I highly recommend this book.
