Astrophysics for People in a Hurry
by Neil deGrasse Tyson
Tyson lived up to his word with the title of this book, wonderfully distilling the big ideas in astrophysics to a language and form ant layperson could follow. Not only that, but he clearly lays out the importance of not only studying but understanding astrophysics: to give us a "cosmic perspective" of our place in the universe and our relationships to each other.
