Hard to rate because the first 3/4 of the book was rough to get through. I found myself not looking forward to picking the book up each time, and it was a slow, boring, and depressing plod. Very repetitive and it just felt like not a single good thing happened for this family. It was too much for me. I started to just feel detached from the story. The last 1/4 at least held my interest more so than most of the book as more things actually started to happen. Overall though it just wasn't for me. Too much of a depressing slog.
