Hollow City by Ransom Riggs
3.0

1 word: Disappointing.

This just didn't live up to Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children. It was long and drawn out. All the curiosities and action occurred at the end of the book.

And I know I know the authors American, but he could have done a bit more homework on London/England. We do not have blocks, we have streets and junctions. Homes in Central London in the 1940's probably wouldn't have porch lights, since they probably didn't have porches, so them not being on in the Blitz - irrelevant. I get the impression that Ransom Riggs failed to research London accurately. I'm no expert, being from the north of England, but a City is a City, and inner city houses are usually terraces, without porches. This just really bugged me and detracted from any possible enjoyment I could have had from the relentless running from Hollowgasts.

2.5 stars.
