The Bitter Kingdom
by Rae Carson
My favorite book of this series. Everything is wrapped up so wonderfully. Elisa grew so much over the course of this series, in a way that was authentic and very refreshing. Even though she is surrounded by people who are sworn to protect her, she is smart, strong, and strategic, and rarely needs help saving herself and others around her. She has definitely risen the ranks to one of my favorite heroines, along with Lia from the Remnant Chronicles.
I also love Elisa and Hector. Their love story felt so authentic. I was never a fan of Humberto. I didn't get a love vibe from their relationship at all. And as far as Alejandro went, he was too spineless for someone like Elisa. Hector and Elisa FTW!
I also really love all of the side characters in this story. There are a couple of new characters introduced in this third installment, which I'm not usually a fan of, but I really loved them, especially Red.
This story was so fast paced. I read it in one sitting, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have more of Rae Carson's books and I can't wait to dive in.
