Release by Patrick Ness
3.0

If this book wasn't written by Patrick Ness, I probably wouldn't have picked it up.

I'm not a fan of stories taking place in only one day. It doesn't, in my opinion, leave time for enough believable growth, leading to my not caring enough.
That's what happened here. Although there was development, I didn't care enough.

If there's one author who can make my heart ache no matter what, it's Patrick Ness. And he does manage to make me feel a certain fondness in this book, at times.
I love the found-family element (probably my favorite thing to read about), the friendship that is so much stronger than the ties who can have with people sharing the same blood.
The release aspect was good.
It just wasn't enough...

It's a short book, taking place in a short period of time, with a confusing sub-story I didn't care about, and although the ending was very satisfying, the rest just didn't make me feel enough for me to have enjoyed it.

Pick up another Ness book if you haven't yet, though. He is a wonderful author and I do applaud him for trying something new, even if it didn't work for me as much as I wanted it to.
