A novella featuring how Elle and Jackson got engaged. We know that Elle and Jackson get married (at the end of their novel, Something Borrowed), but Dangerfield gifts us here with how Jackson finally asked Elle.

What gets between Jackson's proposal to his decidedly un-traditional lover is his terrible mother, who keeps walking in (purposely, ew) to their kinky bedroom games. Jackson's mother doesn't think Elle is good enough for her beautiful son. According to Jackson's mother, Elle's too weird, not pretty enough, and will not let Jackson be the 'man' in their relationship. When Jackson doesn't immeditely take Elle's side, their relationship status is put into turmoil, all while Jackson is trying to hide his "engagement ring," his handcuff tattoo with Elle's name hidden within it's ink.
