This book totally snuck up on me. It’s a super fast read and I was enraptured the whole time. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue was my first book by VE Schwab, and unfortunately it really was a let down of expectations. The writing in this is great and I really enjoyed it! It reminds me of older books based on 1700th century villages and Salem witch trials. This definitely isn’t high fantasy, I would characterize it as general fiction. I also absolutely loved that there was romance, but it didn’t take over the book. Not to mention there are subtle comments on human behavior and I feel like there was a bigger theme throughout the book as well. Such a good quick read, it got me out of a reading slump!
