The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy
by Mackenzi Lee
Unfortunately, I wasn’t wowed by this book because I didn’t think Felicity really shone as a main character in the story. Her part was tangential to the plot and, unlike her wonderfully dramatic brother, her personality was tiring at times. Although I respected her drive throughout and was totally on board at the beginning, there was no growth in her goal nor did it seem particularly relevant to anything going on around her after the halfway point. Maybe Felicity as a main character just doesn’t do it for me, but I felt like the other two female characters were so much more interesting that I started wondering why we were following Felicity. Loved the first book, will definitely check out the next one, but this one was just okay for me.
