Hillary: Flesh and Blood
by Angel Gelique
This book was...wow. I mean, the hardest thing about reading this book is there are no "good" guys. Nobody seems morally correct with the exception of maybe Hilary's sister and little brother. Dad? Abusive piece of shit. Mom? Useless piece of shit. Which leaves me wondering, who were we to root for?
I think that was my problem in this one. The first title had some repulsive actions from certain people but you still had someone to root for. To hope to win in a way. In this one, you knew no one would win. None of the people you can even begin to call "good" which made it hard to get through.
The characters were so dumb in this book. Not dumb as made bad, but purposely made to be dumb (I'm assuming) The mother in particular was just so useless and annoying that if anyone should have died first besides pops, it was her. She drove me crazy of how many times I wanted her to die and she kept on living while characters I liked died for no reason.
The only negative really can think of is some scenes go on a bit to long, to much explaining of what characters are thinking and such.
The good are some death scenes (one in particular around 73% was just too much but daring to do) fast paced, horror filled, and well enough done dialog.
I enjoyed reading it, but it wasn't an easy read. Mostly due to how much I hated most of the characters haha. But it felt important before I dive into book 3 to finish this trilogy. I'm really hoping this bitch gets what's coming to her!
