This book makes a transition from the young adult feel of the first half of the series into the decidedly adult feel of the second half. There is so much danger, plotting, history, and sex that it feels like adult high fantasy. It is no longer a story about teenagers finding their place in a fucked up world. Now it's a story about young adults trying to save the world, no matter the cost.

This story made my heart break in a million different ways.
