this didn’t really work for me for different reasons.
this entire book to me felt like it kept me at a too large distance to care about anything that was happening or what the characters were going through -and a lot of drama stuff does happen in this story that i have no idea or desire to research if the Booth family history is actually as dramatic as this book made it out to be.
for me this story just took to long?
we got the entire back story and just in the last few pages the entire assassination stuff happens and being told this book is about the assassin and his family i might have expected more either from that point of few or more after the assassiation?
i am not even sure.
but i honestly don’t feel like i know more about what happens or how that came to be now after reading this book than before.
which i don’t think should be the reaction?
so either i am not in the right mood for this and how it was written or it really was written to slowly paced with too many narrators but too little from the one person i wanted to actually get a view from.
this didn’t really work for me.
clearly.
but i can also see it’s not a bad book.
which is why i gave it a middle of the road star rating.
i am sure some readers will feel similar to me and some will absolutely low this slow anticipation of a build up and all that family background.
