The God and the Gumiho by Sophie Kim

  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? No

2.0

This book is all tell and no show. We're told about the interesting and amazing histories of the two main characters, yet the characters, a fallen god and a man-killing fox, sound and act like teenagers.

The world was interesting, if underdeveloped, and I liked the mix of Korean mythology and urban fantasy tropes.

The romance fell flat mostly because I find the characters insufferable. The mystery was ok but nothing that would get me to carry on with this series.

However, if this was made into a drama and the characters were less annoying, I would watch it.
