There was a delightful amount of LGBT representation in this book. People using neopronouns and dating more than one gender and living as rounded out characters that don't focus on coming out at all.

However, this book very much throws mentally disabled people under the bus. The main character is mistaken as having a mental disability of some sort, but throughout the book he constantly says things like "I'm normal smart". There are characters in the book that literally only talk to him after he assures them that he's not stupid, and they are viewed as being positive characters.

To be quite frank, this is a new take on the "you're not mentally ill; you're magic!" trope which is harmful and gross.
