I really didn’t expect this slightly magical middle grade novel to hit quite close to home right now, so I’ve just been crying while washing the dishes and finishing this one up. Middle grade is still a new genre for me but I’ve been consistently impressed with what I’ve read so far. This book was so moving, beautifully written, and explored so many topics that young kids should hear about, including illness and death, but also outgrowing friendships, standing up for yourself and others, and staying true to your passions. Loved it.
