I wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but I'm glad I read it. I picked it up because it was recommended in Shelf Awareness and sounded quite interesting--lesbian vampires? However, the story is about so much more than that. It's a coming of age story stretched out over years. It looks at how one might abuse power, and how one might use it correctly. It's about forming your own family when, for whatever reason, you can't be with your own any more. I enjoyed reading it.
