Time of the Flies by Claudia Piñeiro
4.0
challenging dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

The mix of writing styles made it hard for me to develop a flow within the writing, though the chapters from the “chorus” provided clarity and confirmation to some characters’ motives.

I appreciated Inés’ intense, weird affection for flies. Personally, I’m intrigued by those who have quirky interests. I’ll likely think of this book whenever I encounter the phrase “wouldn’t hurt a fly”.
