Sam made Charlotte promises… lots of promises that he didn’t fulfill. He promised they would get married soon, that she would have time to work on her writing, and that he would treat her right. Nine years later and he barely touches her and forgets her birthday. Multiple times she’s tried to talk to him about improving their life, and when she says she wants to talk to him this last time about their relationship? He pulls out his phone to plays games. Bye boy bye.

Flash forward a little bit and Sam is gone. Charlotte is finally losing weight and getting healthy like she has wanted to, she’s able to keep her apartment clean without Sam getting it disgusting again, and she has a space and the time to start writing again.

Charlotte is starved of romance at this point, so when she meets her favorite author L. Rosebud who turns out to be a masculine hunk named Ross… she eats up the attention and romance he gives her.

Charlotte is enjoying this newfound romance. Until the romance is overpowering and not her style. And she isn’t sure how she feels about Ross and if the romance she reads in books is really what she wants in her life.

Charlotte’s brother Matt and his husband David were amazing side characters. I loved their story, their battle of getting a baby of their own, and I hope they get a book starring them as the main characters.

The only thing I didn’t like was there was no separation between timelapsed paragraphs and it was very confusing. One sentence would be 9 years in the past and the next sentence in the same paragraph was in the present day. Then sometimes the MC would be somewhere doing something and the very next sentence same paragraph it was hours or days later and she was elsewhere with no transition. It was slightly disorienting.

I don’t know why but the verbiage for novels set in Britain is so fun for me being from the United States. I won’t spoil it but the ending is a book-lovers dream. I read this is 3ish hours and I loved the story.
