decolonizing trans/gender 101

I don’t really know how to feel about this book, especially as a white “ binary “ transgender ( I honestly cringe when I use that word to describe myself, but trans-masc takes away from my specific experience and alignment with my own individual out-look on my gender and gender as a whole ) man. The concept is amazing, but it was poorly executed at times with unnecessary astericks and underscores with inconsistent typos and purposefully bad grammar to seem more “ relatable, hip, understanding “ while using words only people who spend too much time on transgender tumblr blogs would understand. To look at the actual contents of the book though, it never states the actual history of how poc and white people experience gender separately, it shuts all white identity down while complaining stating intersex people are real shuts them down. I wish it spent more time exploring the actual theme of the book instead of regurgitated discourse whilst complaining about there being unnecessary discourse in the trans community. However, I realize this book isn’t really meant for me and it’s more about inner-poc solidarity and not to necessarily educate white people.
