I wasn't sure this one was living up to the hype for the first bit but then I really got into it and really enjoyed it! I was awake way too early so I read a lot of it in the dumb hours and the rest while I waited in the drive through for my vaccine, so I got through it faster than I thought I would. January is a women's lit author but her own happily ever after has gone away after she loses a family member, finds out their secret, and then her man doesn't last through the bad. On top of it all, she now has writer's block. She goes to the beach house left to her (that she didn't know existed) to stay for the summer and try to write again. She soon finds out her neighbor is none other than her literary snob archenemy from university. They decide to make a bet: they will swap genres and he will write a love story while she tries to write something "more serious and cynical." They also decide to spend two evenings a week together, one for him to show her how he usually researches his books and the other for her to put him through Rom-Com boot camp. As they get to know each other and learn about their other's life, they begin to realize how much they actually have in common.
