I previously read this book in 2019 and gave it 5 stars. I am now rating books more critically, and my reading preferences have changed a bit.
This book wasn’t as good as I remembered it being, but I still enjoyed it. I also liked it better than the movie, which has some redeeming qualities but terrible acting.
Indy and Bryant had a lot of sweet moments in their friendship, and I loved how much Bryant cared about Indy’s well-being.
Maxton was honestly so dumb, and I can’t believe what he thought about his friendship with Indy.
The bad parts about this story were the cheesiness and predictability. The dialogue was very cringe-worthy at times, and a lot of parts didn’t seem very realistic.
I did like that it talked about child abuse without being too graphic.
Overall, it was an enjoyable story.
Graphic: Child abuse
Minor: Animal death, Death of parent
