i do like it!! but i think there is something about the point of view that takes some adjustment and understanding. it is from shani’s point of view so we are constantly stuck in her circular thoughts and her own misunderstandings about her life, and while it mostly is lovable, at times it can be annoying. i feel like also being only a little bit older than them, i had an interesting experience empathizing with may and shani. i liked the dead fish, but i think shani’s obsession with girls was annoying (but also that was the point). i think all the struggles with the book where dealt with and addressed, but not sure i saw the growth i would have hoped for. i found it an easy and fun read though, and i hope to grow up to be like beatrice.
