This was a cute story that was quite enjoyable to read. It is however a very straightforward plot, adult readers (and even some kids) will probably be able to figure out roughly what happens from very early on and that made it hard to really fall in love with the book. Perhaps if there had been a bit more atmosphere it might have been stronger even with the predictability. 

I'm always conscious however that I am not the target reader, and this is a fun, cosy, easy to read story that I suspect many children will enjoy.
