First and foremost, the art in this is gorgeous. I want to tear out and frame all of the mock horror covers. Unfortunately, I found the story less engaging. I will say that this is likely solely a result of my own misinformed expectations. I thought this was going to be a horror/fantasy type of story. Instead, it's an historical fiction told through the eyes of a monster-loving little girl. I'm not a huge fan of historical fiction, particularly stories based post-1900.
