This book brought back so much nostalgia, it was crazy. I didn’t get a chance to buy it before it sold out. I read it through my library ebook service but I will be adding it to my collection. My husband and I were totally talking about all the things when it came to Twilight. We went to midnight showings, midnight purchases of the movies/books, and both read the series. It catapulted my love for YA and I will always love it for that. Is it the best thing in the world? Absolutely not. Will I always enjoy it? Definitely.

Now, to get into the actual book. I loved the fact that it was Edwards POV. I remember reading what she posted when it leaked a decade ago. I feel like he’s changed quite a bit in this one, he’s so dark. I feel like he’s got one mindset the whole book, he’s evil and trying to convince Bella to run. On the flip side, Bella just keeps laughing and brushing off the danger. His internal struggle was so intense.

Was it necessary for this book to be over 600 pages? Absolutely not. I did find myself started to skim towards the end. I also hit a wall with it about halfway. There’s a lot of things that could have been cut down. I am glad that I did end up picking it back up though.

My absolute favorite parts of this book were all the parts without Bella. I’ll get to Bella in a minute. I loved all of Edward’s insights about the Cullen family. We learn so much more about them and I loved it. They are just so interesting and I would rather get books about their past, leading up to their change. I also loved Edward’s thoughts. He is so dark and intense but it really makes me understand how he played out in the movie.

Now onto Bella…

I was never really a fan of Bella and that hasn’t changed. I found most of the parts with her and a bit dull. She’s got like 0 personality. I found it quite annoying that she never really took anything seriously and just laughed the danger off. Is it that she’s blinded by infatuation/love? I don’t know. It could be that Kristen Stewart played this part without a personality and the same facial expression throughout the whole movie.

Alice has always been my favorite Cullen and that does not change in this book. It made me love her so much more. She’s seriously the best and I NEED a book that’s just about her. I think that her story is a little open to question, we could really learn a lot about her past.

Overall, I did enjoy my time with this book. I feel like there’s a lot of new content that we didn’t get in the original. Although, it’s been years since I’ve read Twilight. If Stephanie Meyer wrote anything else from Edward’s perspective, I would read it 100%. If you loved this series at all, you should totally read this one.
