The Apocalypse Gene by Carlyle Clark, Suki Michelle
2.0

This book was not really for me. I wanted so badly to like it. The cover is awesome and the concept sounds so cool, but the execution just left me bored and I had to force myself to keep reading. There was too much filler in the story for me. I'm sure that some people would really love this book but it was just not my favorite.

The concept is really cool. I loved how they incorporated technology into the story and all of the gizmos and gadgets sounded awesome! I want to create a little mini me for the cyber world! Although i'm not sure that I would want it to have an attitude like the ones in the story did, but that's another issue.

The Apocalypse Gene tried to be mysterious and cryptic, but I found it confusing and choppy in parts. There were some sections in the beginning of the book that I would read a page or so and have no idea what just happened so I had to go back and read it again to try and decipher it. That is too much work for me, and even after re-reading parts I was still confused.

I liked Mikah, but Olivya came across as kind of mean. I didn't like her very much, and when I can't connect with the main character than I have a really difficult time becoming engaged in the story.

The world that is created is pretty cool, so if anyone thinks they would enjoy a dystopian/apocolyptic world where everyone is dying of a fatal sickness. The setup sounds so interesting but the execution just did not work for me. Do you agree? Disagree? please let me know if you read the book and really enjoyed it. I would love to hear other people's opinions on it.
