If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio
1.0

This one star is earned through the writing style, which sounds quite nice on the surface but lacks depth. Beyond that the mystery is unfulfilling, and the idea that this is a gay novel is quite absurd when the main character barely seems to even notice he loves a man and spends most of the book with someone else. Not to mention the way eating disorders are considered. While it is acknowledged the character impacted by it needs help, she gets only scorn from her family, which regardless of when the book takes place is not how that should have been handled at all, especially when it ended up irrelevant to the book.
