Thank you so much Netgalley for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and not infuenced in any way.

This book follows our main characters Evie, who comes to live with her father in Iceland, and Oskar, who befriends her with his music instead of words. This story follows the relationship between Evie and her paintings, Oscar and his reluctance to reveal his secrets to Evie, and how both of them find a middle ground and enjoy their time together.
.
First, I loved the characters and how they were portrayed so much. This book had very minimal characters in it and all of them had it's on place and contributed to the story. The slightly mystical setting of the cherry orchard and how it affects Evie was also really good. The way Oskar and Evie talks were sometimes hilarious. Even though you know his secret while reading the book, it has the mystery element to the character in the story and that was a different take.
.
Second, I really liked the plot-line and how the story progressed as well. It's very slow paced and it takes time for the reader to get into the book at first, but I love me some slow burn romance where there is no inhibitions and a lot of open conversations. (Even if it was one sided, it was really good). I loved the aunt character and her as a personality. The father character was made to be distant, yet he makes a lot of difference when it comes to her life. The pressure of expectations, following your own dreams, and discovering identity seems to be a common theme in this book and was done quite well.
.
Now coming to the pacing of the book, I would have loved it if there were less descriptions of few scenes in particular. At times, it dragged along and made me skim read paragraphs and I didn't quite enjoy bits. That ending had a light fantasy element to it and can be understood only when you consider it a minimal fantasy and not as a contemporary. I'm not sure what the author was trying to say by that ending, and why, but I quite enjoyed it.
.
Overall, this book had very good writing, unique storyline, medium pacing, a slow burn story and romance. If you are a fan of contemporaries with light fantasy elements, then this can be your book !
