This book was very enjoyable, a perfect escape. This was a great introduction the this series and am excited to see whats next.
I think i liked all the characters introduced other than the obvs villain. But even for Father Padron there is some pity felt as he believes himself rejected and in need of penance for his bloodline.
I don’t know if i like the way Cersie got or unlocked her powers, it makes sense with how she was sheltered so she couldn’t have known and i think the alternative of her finding out earlier without knowing about her bloodline would have been worse because i think it would bring some embarrassment or shame, not to mention she would probably be prosecuted in some way for being a woman with magic like the priests do.
The romance was nice, i liked the teasing and flirting but the “we can’t until my Claiming day” was a bit annoying.
The twist was a tiny bit predictable as Father Padron was already considered earlier as her potential father but i did not expect Nina to be her mother and i think that was well done. I think the twin thing was kind of brushed over and i would love for that to be explored in the next book. As well as Nina and her child being alive by the goddess and what that will mean for them.
