All exposition, little actual plot happening in the beginning. And then when the story does begin, the characters are all super focused on the mission and call each other friends just cause they met each other. They don't get to know each other at all really, which was a bit frustrating, especially for middle grade. But the plot was fun, and I think kids would enjoy the magic and excitement of this book.
